Battalion Training Courses 2025/26

We have the following training courses planned during the session, booking is available through our Cademy Portal.

Young People (in S3 or older) should attend a Building Your Skills course as part of the work towards their President's Badge, we run this course three or four times during the session, pick the date that suits. The course fee is £10 per participant.
- Building Your Skills Course No 1, Saturday 25th October, 9.45am - 1pm, Battalion HQ
- Building Your Skills Course No 2, Sunday 18th January, 1.45pm - 5pm, St Johns Renfield Church
- Building Your Skills Course No 3, Saturday 21st February, time and venue tbc
- Building Your Skills Course No 4, if required, a Sunday in April
Young People should attend a Skills for King's Badge course at the start of their KB work, we run this course three times during the session, pick the date that suits (please bear in mind this course should be done at least six months prior to Completion). The course fee is £10 per participant.

- Skills for King's Badge Course No 2, Saturday 15th November, 9.45am - 1pm, Battalion HQ
- Skills for King's Badge Course No 3, Sunday 25th January, 1.45pm - 5pm, Battalion HQ
Youth Leader Training (YLT) requires completion of seven modules, our course covers these over two days. The course fee is £25 per participant.
- Part 1 - Saturday 1st November, 9.45am - 5.45pm, Battalion HQ
  - Module 1 (Introduction to BB)
  - Module 6 (Equal Opportunities)
  - Module 2 (Working with Under 11’s) or Module 3 (Working with Over 11’s) - participants choose
  - Module 4 (Safeguarding)
- Part 2 - Sunday 2nd November, 1.45pm - 7pm, Battalion HQ
  - Module 5 (Managing Risk)
  - Module 7 (Programme Planning & Delivery)
  - Module 8 (Sharing Faith)
All leaders should refresh Safeguarding Training (YLT Module 4) every few years
Warrant Officers, Helpers and Residential Activity Helpers who have not completed YLT are required to complete the Managing Risk and Safeguarding Modules from YLT.

- Managing Risk Courses - YLT Module 5 - online courses are being held either by ourselves or by BBUK

  - Online course - Thursday 3rd July
  - Online course - Monday 28th July

Company Management Training, for Captains and Leaders in Charge of Sections. The course fee is £15 per participant.
- Saturday 24th January, 9.30am - 5pm (tbc), Battalion HQ
Holiday Leadership Course required for the Leader in charge of an overnight stay, Camp or Holiday. Renewal every five years.
- Online course (over two evenings) - Wednesdays 25th February and 4th March
King's Badge Completion Residential
- Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd March
Campcraft Course required for the Leader in charge of a canvas camp. Renewal every five years. The course fee is £10 per participant.
- Sunday 26th April, 1.45pm - 5pm, venue tbc

We welcome participants from outside of Glasgow Battalion to all of our courses, though places on our King's Badge Residential are first available to Companies within the Battalion.

Bookings should be made via our Online Events Portal at glasgowboysbrigade.cademy.io we can accept online card payment through Cademy, if you select Cash or Invoice as the payment option you can pay by bank transfer (ask us for our details) or with card, cash or cheque at the Battalion Office.
